3kg cocaine for New Year seized in Mumbai, 2 held

MUMBAI: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) busted an international drug trafficking racket and arrested two foreigners with 2.8 kg of drugs worth Rs 20 crore. The drugs were meant for New Year party celebrations in Mumbai and Goa, said officials.

On specific intelligence, NCB Mumbai intercepted a South African woman, Marinda S, who had arrived from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Sunday. A check of her baggage led to recovery of 2.8kg of cocaine hidden in two pairs of shoes and two purses in specially made cavities, said officials.

Marinda revealed she was to deliver the drugs to a person at a hotel in Andheri. This led the team to the other African woman, H Musa, who was also arrested. The drug was sourced from South America.
